Hi i was wondering if I have a knee injury. Everytime i bend my knee alittle bit )and tense it I feel this very acute pain ( I wouldnt even call it a pain I would call it more like an irritation) inside my knee. It doesnt affect me when I play soccer but I'm wondering if it really is a knee injury and if i slightly pulled a ligament in there and i need to check it out. Also, I think i caused it when I was playing soccer in the house ( what kind of a soccer player doesnt? lol) and i know that when i was trying to pass it i bent my knee to far....it didnt hurt, but i know i kinda extended it too far...thanks in advance

P.S. It hasnt gotten worse, but will it if i dont check it out?...im going to play nationals southeastern regionals in like a week

You may have the same problem I have. I have a disease known as Osgood-Schlatters Disease. I have the exact same problem. I have been to the doctor about it. It is something you can inherit from somewhere in your family. It cannot be healed. You just learn to live with it. It gets better over time. My mother is 37 and still has it from when she was 14. She says as you get older the less painful it becomes.

Osgood Schlatters disease is a very common cause of knee pain in everyone. It is a condition where the bony protrusion below the knee (called the tibial tuberosity or tubercle) becomes inflamed, painful and swollen.

I hope this helped! Get well Soon.

Knee injuries are very difficult to diagnose with out a physical examination and possibly x-rays or MRI. From the description you gave and the nature of your discomfort, it is possible that you could have a minor tear of one of the ligaments in the knee or possibly some cartilage damage. With my years of working with athletes at all levels, children through Olympic and professional, I highly recommend that you go see and Orthopedist. If soccer is as important as it appears to be to you, then yo owe it to yourself. Do not let a minor problem develop into a lingering injury.

sounds like you could have torn some of your minisscuss (spelling could be wrong). A small tear will usually repair on it's own. I would if poss. have a sports injury md check it out before. trust me if you can prevent further injury if in fact an injury has occured you will be so glad you did. I had a torn miniscuss and ended up with a torn acl and surgery and physical therapy (need i say more) because i thought it was nothing_

It could be just inflammation but you need to have it checked out anyways because if it is something serious. It's better to catch it now instead of waiting and having more damage done. Or it could act up at the worst possible time like during nationals......But seriously inflammation causes all kinds of different pains in different areas.
