Go to Start > Accessories > System Tools > Backup.

Once there follow the onscreen directions and you should be good to go.

granted this is for XP, other windows operating systems are very similar.

I've always found that having a duplicate hard disk and using the "dd" command (UNIX/Linux, not a native Windows command) to clone the disk works well. Ghost apparently works well for Windows based systems but I just tend to backup the data and figure that I'll do a fresh installation of the OS and applications.

You could try the Windows Backup too.
