You have never heard the name Zane? Haven't you ever heard of the famous western genre author named Zane Grey? Here's a biography of his life.

I actually have a friend and ex-co-worker who named his son Zane. It's a very interesting name. The source I give below says that the name is of Hebrew origin, and is a variation of the name John. It means "God is gracious."

Its OK. There's a famous author of western novels named Zane Grey.
As long as it doesn't sound weird with the last name----like Zane Crane or something!

I love the name Zane. When I was preg. I wanted either that or Jacob. Someone else I knew used Zane so I went with Jacob.

I like the sound of it, but I can't tell what gender it is. You should pair it with a middle name that will clear it up, like Zane Elizabeth or Zane Joseph (not necessarily those, but you know what I mean.)

There used to be an actor, I think, or maybe he was a writer, named Zane Grey. It's a perfectly good name. Not the least bit zaney.

I love the name Zane! If me and my husband ever planned on having another child and it happened to be a boy, Zane would be one our favorites list.

I've seen your answers on here - you've said Zane over and over again, and I think (if I remember correctly) you've used a couple of different spellings. It's clear you like the name. The only thing is, I always associate it with Billy Zane, the actor. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000708/
If you like him, then I guess that's a good thing.

Zane would be ok for a middle name. But it is definately borderline for being too out there. If you like the "Z" names, how about Ezekiel and then you can call him Zeke? Have fun!
