It seems here that some on Y!A Wrestling Section have no clue what they are talking about. I call them the wrestling fakers, the ones who watch because they think a wrestler is cute or because it is a fad. When certain people are asking serious questions, they try to chime in with a ridiculous answer that makes no sense whatsoever. But then there are those who know their wrestling, from facts to dates to real wrestlers names.

SO, are you a true fan or a fake fan and why?

To me, to understand wrestling, you have to know the history of wrestling, from origins of the WWWF to the AWA to the NWA to WCW to ECW to WWF to ECW to RoH to XPW to TNA...I bet half of you don't even know what half of those are without going to wikipedia..

I consider myself a real fan as I've been watching for over 20 years and I think I have a pretty good knowledge of the history of the business. Good question as I've seen a lot of fake fans running around.

I am a faithful fan, but I don't know all the wrestling facts, dates, or real wrestlers names. However, I'm watching for the entertainment value and because it's like wrestling theatre which I do know a lot about. So, I think if depends on the perspective of the viewer not how much they know about all the details of the show. When I've watched longer hopefully I'll gain more knowledge of those things.

Truth is, I realy dont know if I'm a real fan or a fakie. I think certain wrestlers are cute, but I dont watch it only for that. I dont think it's a fad either cuz most of my friends are into UFC and hate wrestling. Since I'm a social studies/history nerd, I did look up wrestling history and looked up old wrestling matches, so I do know some facts and dates. Maybe I'm in between somewhere.

I'm a true fan because I don't brag about being a true fan.

Oh yeah.

Hmpf. You don't need to know every single thing possible about wrestling to be a true fan. It helps if you have to debate whether a match is good or if you just want to have an intelligent conversation about wrestling. But really, all you have to do appreciate wrestling and those who perform for the fans. You don't have to know the dates of each of the Tiger Mask/Dynamite Kid series or who Jumbo Tsuruta beat to become the first AJPW Triple Crown World Heavyweight Champion or the arena in which Terry Funk and Jerry Lawler had their Empty Arena match. You just have to love professional wrestling and respect those who sacrifice their bodies to entertain us fans. That's it.

And yes, I now I just flaunted some wrestling knowledge. It was to make a point. Duh.

true fan. I've watched wrestling for 10 years or something like that.. I watched Hogan, Flair, Undertaker and other on their prime. . I wacthed great wrestling moments like HBk doesn't even tap out to Bret harts sharpshooter... And then Wrestlemania 23 he tapped to Cenas fu? please!! that was pathetic!! All Cena fans need to watch some good old-school wrestling. Watch the montreal screwjob, watch WM3 Hogan lifting up Andre the giant, watch no way out 98 tht great ladder match, dunno: all the Attitude era, dunno what else... Thats why I don't like Cena and all this new era, because I've seen good wrestling in the past, now its all about the money. But anyways I still am a true fan.

**I hate hearing "fake fans" & i think there is no point to it. if you're a fan, you're a fan. MJ loved his fans. it's better than being a hater. so: mj "true fans" are calling people who hated his music until he died, "fake fans" ... isn't it better than them still hating MJ? I think it is. Besides, it depends on people's ages, too: if you were born in the 90s, you probably wouldnt have heard too many good things about MJ. It's pretty sad that someone has to DIE to see what a great person they are, but i say: if you're a fan, you're a true fan. if you hate him: you hate him... i don't think there is any point at all to go around calling people "fake fans."
