NO, not usually. Do NOT get them at Glamour shots or anything like that. Headshots should be decidedly UN glamour like, they should represent a natural you, the real you. You can definitely do different looks, but high glam is not one of them. Stick to the basics. If your agent wants a shot like that, they'll tell you but I highly doubt it. Go to a real photographer. Make sure to ask if they do actor's headshots on a regular basis and if you even get an inkling that they're not sure what you're talking about, go somewhere else!

You want a picture that is of what you look like on a really good day. Not a glamor shot of you wearing things you never wear and tons of makeup. Find a photographer that you can have fun with and will capture the true you. It may be very expensive, I paid $500 for mine but I am so happy with them. In headshots, you really pay for what you get, if you go cheap, that's how they'll look. Put aside some money and really make your headshots an investment for your career, it is what professionals will see of you so make it look as professional as possible.

It depends on how seriously you want to be taken as an actress. If you just need a picture for auditions in unpaying community theatre work you could probably just get a friends to use a digital camera.

If you are a serious actress and are trying to find professional paying jobs you need to get your pictures taken by a serious photographer. In order to find them you are going to have to ask other actors in your area. Headshots are expensive and differ in terms of theatre, commercial, movies, etc. But since they are meant to represent you it's worth the money to get good quality ones. Don't forget after you sit for headshots, you'll still need to factor in the price of prints. Which also need to be done by a professional place.

Your headshot should look like you and also the type of character you are most castable as. You'll probably need to ask friends what sort of characters/actors you are most like in order to figure out what your "type" is.

our mall has a small studio / glamour shots or glamour girls / something close to that. they do sort of makeovers / put clothes on the model and then take pictures . a lot of the pictures are quite pretty.
