I am a university student and am really unhappy with some of my housemates and want to move out, I have to find a replacement as stated in the contract - which I have already done and have found one.
The two tenants that will not agree are the ones I do not get on with and are making life very difficult, is there anything I can do?

If it states in the contract that you can move out if you have found a replacement, then how can they stop you? Why do they have to agree if its in the contract? I would say you should just move out, and move the replacement in. That would likely end the whole thing, I cant imagine they would have any recourse.

If you follow what is required in your contract with your housemates, then you can leave. Even if they don't agree with your choice of replacement, it is their burden to prove that you have violated the agreement. What are the chances they're going to sue you over this? Just move out, move on, good luck.

Your agreement is with the landlord, not with your housemates. While ideally you would find a replacement who could hit it off with them, they sound like people who don't get on with other human beings generally. They make life miserable for you while you were there and then want to make it rotten for you when you try to leave. Just get on with the arrangement and let your replacement move in. I hope that next year is a better one for you!

arrange a house meeting and get a neutral third part to be there if it gets heated, for a witness.

explain to all that your not happy with the situation and your resolution is to bring this new person in in your place. Explain that this would make their enviroment better as there would be no tension. If they still reject your request ask them to specify why and what there problem is.

it could just be a simple missunderstanding hopefully talking it though should help, if not try the citizens advice or approach someone studying law at your uni!!

good luck

yaeh they are being difficult. You only have to give 28 days notice and you dont have to find a replacement.. that is the landlords responcibility. Especially if you have not been there long and it is an unreasonalble amoun t oif time?
