Boot it into safe mode. Hit f8 while booting, pick safe mode off the menu. Then use control panel/user accounts to change his password.

Yes there is a way to get the password. I have my computer password protected to keep my daughter from going online under my screen name and the I forgot the password myself! Go to www.loginrecovery.com. It is for Windows XP Login Recovery. I had to use the same thing in order to get my password because I forgot it. All you need to do is follow the instructions on the website and you will need a floppy disk. It takes them 48 hrs. from the time that you requested it. This should do the trick. If you need help, just email me: happygrl2k4@yahoo.com. Sorry to hear about her brother too. My prayers go out to her family.

If it's the windows password, then yes. usually most people do not password protect the actual administrator account. if you reboot the system into safe mode, then you can logon to the admin account with no password and reset the password for the main user/administrative account.

If it's a bios password you can remove the bios backup battery then reinstall it to reset the bios. If it's a WinXP password you can either reformat it or use a program like Winternals to change the password.

Yes, plenty of way around it, tell her to hit ctrl alt del twice on the welcome screen
for the username type administrator
leave the password blank

Most Windows setups have this left as blank by default! If that doesn't work, go here and follow the instructions:

Is it the main Administrator account or is it his name? If is it his name, try starting Windows in Safe Mode and log in as Administrator...you can create users and remove passwords and whatnot from there.
