This "Fairness Doctrine" may be the most dangerous law ever passed in the last few decades.
It is clearly unconstitutional and it is only meant to prevent Conservatives from speaking on the public airways.
This law would only serve one purpose, to end conservative talk radio as we know it.
The liberals try to compete with conservative talk radio and nobody will listen to them. So now they think they need the government force the public to listen to them because we are all to stupid to know what to listen to.
If you want Liberal viewpoints, go to Huffington Post.
Lastly, for you liberals who think this is a good idea. Just remember the Richard Nixon used it to silence liberals when he was in office.
This goes both ways; so be careful what you vote for.

Yes Lott is a Republican, but he is in on this thats why I said that.
Hunt: a radio station is a business in the free enterprise system.. if I owned one and wanted to play Rock music and the government said I had to mix it with classical what would you say,,, its my business, what if that lost me listeners? then i lose money..

talk radio is the only place that Liberals are failing. in the event that they had something that ordinary human beings wanted to pay attention they might have an objective audience. they should furnish stations money to hold their exhibits. precise minded talk exhibits are thriving. They make thousands and thousands. The Liberals want it close all the way down to quiet the fact. in the event that they want truthful time they are able to get their very own exhibits.permit the industry force what's on the radio. it particularly is like usa musicians suing a rap song station for truthful time. The listeners do no longer desire to pay attention it. tell me what the Liberals desire to declare that doesn't have an outlet? They very own the papers, magazines and tv.

Of course they will !!!!!
We are at a very serious development here. They can not come up with any successful fore mat to counter what is on the air today.
Since, people have stopped watching the bias evening news, they are beside themselves. The talk radio crowd know how to think.
Wake Up folks, this is a good question, get involved, bug the congress with your opinions.
You need to CALL, they do not respond to mass e-mail or individual emails so gosh we may have to write, but do help.

But we have had this law in past. We need to remind legislators that the liberal view is NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, Comedy Central etc. The left wing media is still big why should we pay by losing our voice just because radio viewers don't want to hear a bunch of left wing loonies.

The unfairness doctrine is not a law. It was a FCC regulation. It applied to radio stations on some cockamamie theory that radio waves are in the public domain.
I agree it is a bad idea. I don't want to listen to liberal bull on talk radio.

Wait, so denying liberals talk radio isn't censorship and allowing the opportunity for equal representation on public airwaves is? Turn off the Rush for a bit a really think this one over.

Since Fox News gets more viewers, liberals feel they have to take it away. So the answer is yes. Liberals do not like conservatives speaking their views. But they complain when people do not want to hear theirs.

I do not believe the "Fairness Doctrine" can be re-established. Too many venues now exist. XM, Sirius are just two.
