You mean as it pertains to Answers?
That is a person who will troll through your answers, giving you thumbs down for everything. And who will also answer that same question, but with a disparaging remark about you personally.
Also, they have been known to report you for abuse and (if they are lucky) get your account suspended. There is a group of trolls very active on Answers, and nobody is safe from them.
They especially like targetting people who have earned those orange placards for "top contributor".

According to Encyclopedia Dramatica:
An internet troll is an insult used by hypocrites who can be either:
1. A person who brings life to a tired, dull internet message board by purposeful attempts to start flame wars or Internet drama by posting comments that are patently Fucktarded, yet still inflammatory enough to enrage the stupid, irrational and humorless. The moment someone points out that the troll in question was just gunning for a reaction usually results in a fire drill. For a more in-depth example of trolling, click here.
2. A person that throws around the troll insult to: anyone who defeats them in an argument, anyone points out facts the real troll doesn't want people to know, or someone the real troll picks at random to stick falsely with a troll label for sheer lulz. This second type of troll is 98.9999999% of all trolls now and is often called an Anti-troll.
3. A person affiliated with the group Bantown, commonly known for their lulz. GNAA IS DEAD, JEWS KILLED GNAA.
4. A Fat middle aged man or Russian Woman who lives under a bridge

A lot of people on this site seem to think that anyone who asks politically incorrect questions or answers questions in a politically incorrect way is a troll. There are many who are intentionally politically incorrect for no other reason than to to stir things up, but there are also those like myself who, although they may post politically incorrect content, do so in the interest of standing up for what they believe in.

Two definitions come to mind:
1. A mythical creature, often said to live under a bridge,
2. A posting or e-mail sent for the purpose of starting an argument. Such as "which is better Windows or Mac?"

sorry mate to have confused you. a troll, in yahoo answers context, is person who follows your answer and reports you to the powers that be. that person is seeking revenge by trying to suspend your account (that's why be careful with your answers).
every time you answer, that person will try to find loopholes in your answer that violate the TOS.
so best way to deal with it, keep your Q&A private.

Beware, you writers who write within;
Be mindful of stories that you begin;
For every story that has a beginning
May have a middle and an end.
Know this, too, before you write:
Though day must always lead to night,
Not all beginnings make good tales;
Some succeed, while others fail.
Let this book its judgment lend
On whether and how your beginning ends.
