I don't think there's much to celebrate either, but for some people it is. Many kids struggle to stay in school for various reasons, and some people don't go to college after high school so this is the only graduation for them to really celebrate. I think high school graduation is more for the parents, most students are 18 and legal adults when they graduate high school, it's like they're "all grown up" now. Most students who attend college move out of the house, so graduation is sort of a family's "send off" of their teen.
OF course, when I graduated this year I was celebrating the fact I completed high school in 3 years, not that I completed high school.

Back before WWII, not so many people graduated from high school, so it was a big deal for those who did. It was greatly celebrated, and probably rightfully so. Now, it's just a tradition, and since going to college is not required, it is an end point to the child part of people's lives. I'm sure you could arrange not to go through with it if it means that much to you, but it might mean a lot to your folks. If it does, go through it. It's only a couple of hours and you only have to do it once.

It is something to celebrate because there's a huge number of kids who don't graduate high school these days. At my school a lot of kids dropped out in 11th grade because they were tired of going to class and I even have some friends who won't graduate because their GPAs are less than 2.0. It's pretty tragic but kids like us who will graduate and go to college are getting rarer.

I'm sad to say that if you think that college is going to be this enlightening life changing experience, you are going to be sadly disappointed. Its still school. You will still have to do home work, and you will still know 75% of the content. Sorry.
Getting back to your question, High school is really less of a learning experence, more of i "trial through fire". The real important thing is that you didnt give up - thats what matters to colleges and employers.

It's nice to celebrate something you have accomplished with friends and family. There are alot of students who dont graduate when they are supposed to or just dont graduate at all. Theres also kids who passed when they were supposed to but struggled to pass and had low grades.. Just because highschool is "easy" for you, doesnt mean its easy for everyone.

When you graduate, it means you are entering the next phase in your life. Why else do you think people are so happy at graduation? However, some people are sad because they don't want to move on with their life.

because to most people, that will be the one and only graduation they will participate in for the rest of their grocery bagging life.
besides, you say high school was easy and that's great but it's still an accomplishment that some did not achieve.
