ph mean pH
p is a mathmatical operator which means -log of something
H is the hydrogen ion concentration, which represents the acidity of something

so its really just a simplification of the acidity. the balance part is that they adjust the acidity to be most comfortable to you.

ph balance is a acidic or alkalinity test.
if something is ph7, it is neutral. anything lower than 7 is termed acidic and higher than 7 termed basic.

pH is the testing of acidity in a liquid. <7=base, >7= acid,7=neutral
Other indicators for acidity(base or neutrality) can be phenophthalein.(clear liquid that does not turn color in acid)
