I always pick mine when they are fully red (no green tip left) this insures full time on plant and flavor. Have also heard to only pick them in evening (this may be an old belief horever).

At when wich it starts to turn slightly red is the best time because it's not too sweet nor too sour. I know someone that ownes a strawberry patch
and she grows the most delicious strawberrys in town. (well, I think so) She's the one whom taught me that secret. You should try it, see for yourself.

I let mine go until they get totally red and then watch for when they start to get darker. I find that this is when they are at the sweetest. They don't store well then so be prepared to eat them when picked.

after its fully red, but after that it also depends on your taste, just try different times until you find one that suits you. Usually you go for the looks not the age.
