I have three goldfish and the other are ok, except for one who will lay on the same corner over and over then starts swimming again. Is that normal?

Are all of your fish the same type? Certain types of goldfish are not very active while others are constantly on the move (comets) Since the other two fish are fine, it doesn't seem to sound like a water quality issue, however it should be tested on a regular basis.

Look at your fish, if he is breathing normally, eating normally with no outward signs of parasites or disease, I would say he is acting normal, especially if he is a heavy bodied fish. Also be sure the temperature of the tank is not too high.

Here are a few other things you can feed them to keep them healthy and happy. All greens will help to keep your fish regular.
]Goldfish need a balanced diet. When choosing a fish food choose one with high protein (48% or better) and low fat (5% or less)

You can supplement their diet with things like Lettuce, mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, spinach, peas, endive, Watersprite, seaweed, cukes, kale, chard, broccoli, lima beans, green beans, etc. and feed aquatic plants (e.g. duckweed, azolla, salvenia, etc) or hair algae daily.

For their Carotenoids which are a family of pigments the fish can't make themselves and are obtained as part of the diet. These pigments result in red, yellow and orange colors. Fish have cells called chromataphores. Those cells convert lutein and carotenes into astaxanthin which is the red pigment.
sources include, brine shrimp, krill, spirulina, marigold flowers, paprika, sweet red peppers, yams, carrots, pumpkin

Watermellons and oranges are also good as well as proteins like chicken (chicken livers) beef (livers and parts) and pork as well as worms and bugs.

Hi, it's difficult to diagnose this without more details but I would suggest you firstly check your water parameters to establish there isn't any toxins in the water that are irritating this fish. Another possibility is equilibrium problems which can be due to a swim bladder disorder or simply constipation. Either way, feeding the affected individual a cooked, shelled & diced pea may help to get things moving again as peas have a mild laxative effect & certainly won't do any harm.

This can be caused by a number of things, including water quality (ammonia, nitrite in the water), being bullied by another fish, or just that he's a fancy variety with a dounded body and short tail that has difficulty swimming because there's too much current from your filter. That sounds suspicious. My goldfish would just hang out at the same corner for a while and he passed away. You might want to check your water parameters. How many gallons is your fish tank? You might also just be on the look out for weird symptoms in his body.

You need to take him out of the tank with your other fish. If he has a disease or parasites your other fish could also get sick. Get another aquarium and keep him in it. If he recovers and is back to normal put him back with his friends.

Man, when I had fish they'd pull this stunt all the time. Some would die, some would wind up being ok. I think they do it just to mess with you.

He could be scratching his side due to a parasite or it could just be a water problem. Have you tested your water lately and done a water change? How big is the tank?
