try cocaine.. its fab ;-)
only joking....
right, what you need to do is to keep going to clubs and bars and stop being paranoid... the more you go the less you will feel out of place... i use to go clubbing all the time and it was not uncommon for me to be up on a podium having a laugh and dancing all night long - well if i went out now its not likely i would even be able to get from the bar to the dance floor - as i have not been out in such a long time - so its about de-sensitising yourself a little. or rather a lot! and if you do not want to go clubbing - why not join some online forums or something like faceparty or a dating agency??
good luck

Be your own person. If that is not your scene don't do it. You hear a different drummer, count your blessings. Sounds like you have matured beyond your friends. Many small theaters (off Broadway) and playhouses need volunteers, to build sets and do other things to put on productions, it is a lot of fun and opens doors you can only imagine. Be adventurous try new waters. And you can meet the coolest people.

Try hanging out with some real friends one weekend and your outlook on partying will change. I saw some of the most funniest things happen after that I finally knew exactly what I was missing wasn't much.
You choose the place and go when your comfortable.
The partylife is not for everyone or try inviting a few friends and a few of their friends over your place for a get-together!!

You don't have to be uncomfortable in a bar setting. You just need to find a bar that you are comfortable in. Bar atmospheres are as diverse as restaurant atmospheres. It's like comparing Bob Evans or Denny's to Rainforest Cafe or Planet Hollywood.
You have sports bars, or hole in wall bars, or traditional pubs, or bars that host live bands, or karaoke bars, or outdoor bars, or beach bars.
Clubs vary in their atmosphere as well, but clubs are different in that they usually are packed with sweaty "dancers."
I prefer a quieter bar hanging out with my friends and meeting new people, then all leaving and finding a lake to go drunk skinny dipping in, as opposed to going to a stupid club where you have to scream at eachother just to be heard. But that's just me.

Its far cooler to be who you are than it is just to be cool. Why would anyone want to be in a place where they don't feel comfortable? Example: Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs) is one of the coolest guys in the NBA, yet he favors video games and Dungeons and Dragons to the night life. He is who he is and that's what makes him cool.

You need to get on a private party circuit if wild living is what you want. I always thought clubs were boring.

be happy clubs do nothing for you, less chance of you becoming an alcoholic. It is refreshing to hear that a younger person gets fulfillment from other avenues
