I know that satellites have revealed virtually everything on our planet, but are there still places on the earth that have yet to be seen by humans? It’s rather quite sad knowing that the earth has been completely exposed. I’m sure it was exciting for the explorers who were able to discover new territories, and for the pioneers of this country, during the early 1800’s, who were able to discover the immensity of the North American continent. It’s like playing Sid Meier’s Civilization. In the beginning of the game, you’re able to uncover new lands that are different every time you create a new scenario, but towards the end of the game, when all the world has been exposed, you lose interest because the game becomes monotonous. Kind of like… our planet.

There are several areas in the South American and African rain forest that have yet to be explored on the ground. Satellite imagery can only reveal the top of the trees. Vast areas of the world’s deserts haven’t been explored by ground expeditions due to the environment, equipment, funding, and political obstacles. There are also large areas of Antarctica that have many secrets to reveal. Did you also know that more humans have set foot and explored the moon than have ventured to explore the Marianas Trench in the ocean?

It is a bit depressing to think that there is nothing left on our planet to discover. But sometimes even sattelites miss something, there are places in the world where dense jungle can hide secrets, aincent civalization remnants, there are also places deep in the ocean, and in or underneath the polar ice caps. There are also many species of animals that are yet to be discovered. Life might be just like a game, but this game seems to have more to discover, because it is filled with the secrets of animal species, land masses like the Sid Meier's game, and even questions to the meaning of life. Even though it might seem like it, nothing on earth is fully discovered.....yet.

Hope I helped!
