Being polite is always the best rule of thumb.
And of course don't forget to be thankful for the trouble when you get it.
I like to send thank you cards when someone give me trouble it's just an extra little nice way to let the trouble maker know just how much you appreciate it!
OH and don't forget to tell them that you will be glad to return the favor next time. Especially when they have given you trouble that you didn't ask for!
