There are a few reasons and it isn't all about the flashing. Right now, my closet is full of Walmart and Goodwill clothing and that's fine with me but I buy bras from ONE store and I spend the money for them. WHY? Because they fit and they last, I certainly don't go showing off my bra.

If you are concerned about the number of your size, and being able to say you are a certain size, you may know that designer sizes are more flattering. If you wear a size 10 Walmart jeans, you might be more like a 6-8 in a designer label.

Many designers styles are appealing to certain people. I'm not really too interested in Tommy because I don't like red-white-blue and stripes. I do like Ralph Lauren because I like the outdoorsy look. And I like Calvin Klein's clean lines and use of black. Lots of stores don't have a distinctive look, they are mediocre in their look.

And many folks, like me with my bras, have found that a certain designer has captured their fit best.

I have noticed that designer clothes are very well made, the fabrics are good and the stitching is high quality.

Of course there are some folks that still wear labels for prestige and to show off. I don't know what's the point, these guys are having to figure out something else. WHY? Because you don't always have to spend a lot for designer clothes. Stores like Kohls, Penney's, and retail outlets, as well as consignment shops, as well as creative budgeting to have what you want....make it possible to have designers with minimal sacrifice.

Some people are purely shallow. Other people simply respond positively to advertising and marketing. Generally, I've discovered that the more the company spends on advertising and marketing, the more vested they are in protecting their good name. Therefore, the clothes are, indeed, better. I buy my clothes both from discount as well as high end retailers to suit my needs. Stop worrying about what others do and why they do it. Live your own life as you choose and try to be happy.
