I just wanted to know, if a person likes to get items and objects to put in the house, kind of like collecting things in a sense, and he brings more and more things in the house. We tell him no because things will accumulate and they are, and now the house is full of useless things....is this a psychological thing? Or is he doing this just because?

Just curious....if it IS apsychological thing, what would the disorder be called??

Just another case of hoarding, and yes, it can be pathologic.

well it didnt started as a psychological disorder...its ok to collect things like some people like to collect stamps..but if he doesnt realize that his sleeping space is invaded by collectables then he is approaching a psychological problem...it could be anything...he might have developed an obsession for collecting an item..better to take him to a psychologist for evaluation

Is he Indian? The reason I ask is because Indians seem to treat junk as "treasures". They think the more "treasures" they have, the more successful they are.
I tend to believe its part of their genetic makeup.

It's hard to say if it's psychological or not. It all depends on WHY he is doing it.
