When I have visited the UK, I've noticed that prices of items in pounds is usually around the same number as it would be in dollars in the US. And since the pound is worth about $2 US, that would track with your observation.
British salaries also seem to be higher than in the US, though. Supply and demand does much of the driving of prices, so if people make more money (adjusted for the exchange rate) then demand would likely be higher, which would drive up prices.
For some specific items like petrol, a big part of the price difference is taxes.

Have you just woken up to the fact that we live in Rip-Off Britain! New Labour boasted that they would change this, but they have actually made it worse.Seen the price of petrol recently? Or of a train ticket? And don't even think you can afford a house if you are not a director of a private equity company.

The nicest faux tan I particularly have ever used is the Ambre Solaire spray, on the 2nd that's a million/2 fee at Boots - £6! It smells useful, and the insurance is particularly stable. Plus you do no longer ought to rub it in so no orange palms! They do it in a honest to time-honored epidermis type, or time-honored to dark epidermis type. As for the orange result you like, i'm no longer too particular. you ought to attempt making use of a prevalent faux tan and layering it on somewhat abit! Then get a inexpensive orangey bronzer to apply on your cheeks x
