I have in the past - and for the most part, it worked out just fine! My current g/f is NOT into it - so I haven't even brought the subject up...
I think that people shouldn't judge something that they haven't tried - but on the other side, they shouldn't be forced to do something that they have no interest in (or think is "wrong").
What works for some won't work for others - but as long as people are willing to experiment (and talk honestly and openly), then I could forsee a drop in things such as divorce, etc.
The biggest hurdle is religious and cultural upbringing - sooooooo many of these tell us that this sort of exploration is WRONG, and will be punished in some way (usually in the afterlife)...

I'm not "scared" about people that are in swinging lifestyles. I am just opposed to it. I find it very provocative and a disgusting way to love. I would never try swinging. As for your question about having a more open and safe outlook on sexuality reduce not only the divorce rates but also reduce psychotropic drug usage for depression? The words swinger and relationship don't go together, and for people that are swingers that use the words relationship and marriage...SHAME ON THEM!!! It is going against the meaning of marriage and marriage values!

Did you really expect to get an unbiased answer here....most don't even know what they are talking about. Especially when they are quick to jump and say "AIDS, STD'S etc etc" thats everywhere and believe it or not the risks are NOT higher in the lifestyle....people going to clubs, bars and so on are at a higher risk. Statistically the lifestyle is safer.
Don't knock it until you try it (Not saying the ASKER was knocking it)

In all honesty.. no. I dont know about you, but the one possibility about the swinging lifestyle that would really and truly scare me is the possibility of getting an STD.

Why scared? It's called VD, especially AIDS. VD used to be an annoyance, easily treated with penicillan. Nowadays, they are hard or impossible to cure and they can kill you, and no precaution is 100%
If you're NOT scared, you're either ignorant or really stupid. Ignorance I'm here to cure...

I am not scared of it - I am not interested in it - not even remotely. First off I am not attracted to women, second off I am happily married to my husband of 17 years and thirdly I think those people tend to be dirty.

The possibilities are endless..... good or bad.
That's a lifestyle where no inhibitions are allowed and if you go in "scared" for whatever reasons you don't need to be there.

NO, if people want to swing they need not to get married. if not married it would be ok, since there were no vows taken. me personally, i wouldn't. i really don't care to watch or know that my husband is with other women. something about it isn't comforting to me. isn't that the whole point of getting married ...to be happy together, not to be happy together, except when we want to sleep with other people.
people are going to do what they want, i don't judge, but in my marriage, i wouldn't do it.

No, as I've said, it's not my scene.
I'm not afraid of it, I'm simply not into it.
Why would you accuse someone who's just not into it of being "afraid?"
Did I tell you not to? No.
