because it's not a choice

Why should it matter? this is a question that will never ever be answered to satisfy everyone. Just like what makes some people Republicans and others Democrats. Why do you by foreign over american automobiles? Which came first the chicken or the egg? What makes you Baptist and not Methodist?
There has to be a percentage of Gay/Lesbians who were born with their sexuall preferance and have no choice about it. Same as str8 people. Some have no choice about what sex attracts them. There is however a growing number of people for whom they find there is a choice. It seems more and more people find it socially acceptable to experiment with the same sex and therefore there has to be a percentage of those who find they prefer the same sex partner better. I know some will label these persons bisexual but how long does a person have to be with the same sex only before they are considered gay and not bi. There are as many reasons for ones sexual orentation as there are people in this world and no one definition will fit them all so again I say Why should it matter?

It is not a choice. Do you think someone would want to be scorned and riddiculed by their friends and family? Most young gay people are kicked out of their homes by their parents, and many bad things can happen to a 15 year old gay boy on the streets. Most young gays have to lead a life of secretecy. They can not tell their family, friends, teachers, or mentors. Would you choose a life like that?

Also, why don't you choose to be a gay man for a month.....

Being "Gay" is as much a choice as being "Straight" . People don't just wake up one day and say "Oh, I think as of today I'm going to be gay" . Why in the world would someone choose a lifestyle that could very easily get them killed. Gay is not a choice, just like being straight is not a choice, it is the way they are born.

Anyone who is gay knows it isn't a choice. They are only attracted to their own sex. It's only close-minded straight people who think it is a choice. Emphasis on the "close-minded" and not the "straight."

If you think it is a choice it would be like you saying that oh I'm attracted to men but I'll CHOOSE to be straight and have sex with women. It doesn't work that way for straight people and it doesn't work that way for gay people either.

Being gay is not easy. Every hour a hate crime is commited, and one in 6 of those hate crimes are related to sexual "preferance." Everyday gay people are discriminated against. This is not an easy life. When first coming to terms with being gay, I (arguably) say that most gay people wouldn't choose that life. But it's something they can't hide, deny, or eventually regret. They learn to re-love themselves and everything about them that makes them who they are.

Ever since I was a very young boy I checked out the Macy's catalogue, not for toys, but at the mens underwear section. Why? Because I believe being gay has been with me since birth. My most hated question is, when did you know you were gay? My answer to that: When did you know you were straight?

Because I didn't choose. I tried not to be gay. I went to seminary, nope, still gay. Got ordained in the Baptist church, nope, still gay.

Decided I should join the Army... they'd make a man out of me! They stationed me in San Francisco... per AIDS.

God has a sense of humor. No choice for me, though!

Well, perhaps because they listen to the tens of thousands of scientists in the AMA and APA who unequivocally state that orientation is NOT a choice.

Or perhaps such people are not ignorant bigots.

We KNOW it's not a choice, because none of us chose to be gay.

because it's not a choice. Although it says "a man shall not lay with a man" or whatever in the bible, he gave them the feelings.

It's not a choice. Sometimes girls and guys are born to be gay. Even sicentist say it's true. People might not believe it but it's true.
