I was watching a video on you tube and it was basically a compilation of atom bomb footage and it had a Snow Patrol song in the background.
The piece of footage I mean is a bit of a large ocean liner ship and a bomb goes off under the water behind it and it seems like the whole ocean explodes into the sky.

The Bikini atoll tests done in the 1950s, several of the ships were ex USN ships,one was the German battleship Prinz Eugen.
The word Bikini gave its name to the beach wear now common everywhere

Yes, Bikini Atoll, but to be more specific, Micronesia; The Marshal Islands and now The Republic of the Marshals. Perhaps 30 atomic explosions were done there in the late 40', early 50's.
