ok I have a 15 gal tank, and i have 3 adult mollies and about 13-14 2-3month old baby mollies, and 2 neon tetra's (i had 3 but 1 died a few days ago, but planning to buy 1 more), and 1 Pleco whos grown to be about 4.5inchs...
I was wondering, if a Corydora(bottom feeder) would be good in my tank?? I was told to get 3 because they like to be in groups..

How Big Do you guys think my Pleco would get? and if i have to get rid of my pleco, can i sell it back to the store i got it from or just any pet store? because when i got him he was about 3inchs now he's 4.5 inchs.. I was told that he would be fine in my tank, because before i had a 2.5gal and he stayed small for the month or so that i had him in there., then I put him in the 15gal. and he grew bigger..

Yes a cory catfish would work out great, in fact you could school them in a group of 4 or 5. They won't grow out to be more then 3-4 inches, and even better is that you should use those to replace that pleco, who's going to outgrow that tank in the long run.

Anyways, your pleco according to us morons, could get up to 2 or 3 feet in total length. I've seen a couple 2 footers, but they didn't grow that big over night. In the long term, he's not going to be good for that tank really. I don't know what the return policy is for your store, but they should honor that with at least some store credit.

The Pleco could get up to 2 feet! You definitely need to give him back. Instead of planning for 3 Neons, you should get like, 11. They will be much happier and you will still have a lot of room. Corydas (Corries) would be great, they are active and peaceful and 3 is a good number. If you want something with a little more personality though, you could try 3 Yo-yo Loaches. They are just as active and will swim all over the tank and clean the bottom. They max out at about 4 inches, some places say 6 but the average is about 4 inches. Don't confuse them with Clown Loaches, Clowns get very big (one foot long) and will quickly outgrow your tank (they need large groups). Good luck!

well if the pleco is a placostomus they can grow to about 1 foot or so and yes you can sell them back to the pet store. and those Corydora will be fine in a group of 2-3 hey, i had just 1 and it was fine but i had a 10 gallon tank. you need more to get the more food you give the fish. hope i could help!

some plecos stay small -- if you got a bushy nose he will only grow to about 4 1/2". others grow to 2 feet. you have to be careful when you buy plecos because they don't know the difference at the pet store usually.
corydoras like to be in shoals. the more the better -- they would actually prefer groups of 6 or more.
i always push ghost shrimp. they are entertaining and eat everything and become shrimp dinner when they molt. shrimp are little cleaning machines -- much better than catfish.

I would go with a couple of cory catfish they stay fairly small and are the most active of all the bottom feeders I have come across they are great fun to watch they love to play chase and swim all around and will do a good job cleaning your tank. Pet stores usauly wont buy back fish but I suggest just giving it to them so it will get a good home

My advice would be to NOT add anymore fish. Those molly babies are going to grow and that will be too many fish in a 15 gallon tank. I think it's time to invest in a larger tank. The Corydoras are great bottom feeders. I have two, which swim together all the time, in my 55 gallon tank. (I call them Cory Cats for short.)
Get that bigger tank....soon!

Yes your pleco is going to get quite big regardless of your tank size. Pleco's are one of the few fish that because they don't move around very much they can get to their full size in any size tank. Majority of them get up to 8"-14". because most pet stores are corporations these days it's going to be hard to find a store that will take back a fish(no matter how big or small) If you want to try to take it to a store go to an independent pet or aquarium store. Ditto on what most are saying about Cory's. I just wanted to add my 2 cents

yes, the pleco will not fit in your tank. he could get more than 2 feet if in the right conditions. it is inhumane to keep him in something that could stunt his growth and lead to death. call the store you bought him from and ask if you could return him since you were given wrong information about how large he would get.
corys are great bottom dwellers, and yes, groups of three id great. you could also do shrimp or snails, i always think they're entertaining. just make sure the tank is tightly covered.
or if you like plecos, you could look for a dwarf pleco. check out aquahobby.com and lok under plecos/catfish. you can read personal opinions and see how big each one gets and what they need.

Corydora's would be great for your tank another good algae eater would be a Otocinclus catfish I have both corydora's and oto catfish. There both fun to watch. I like the oto because they also attach themself to the glass and there really neat to watch. I put a couple links below one on corydora's and oto cat fish. oto cat fish do not get real big. I have my oto and corydora's in a tank with silk plants and lots of hiding places. Just wanted to let you know about the oto also They are both good fish. Its all in a personal preference Good Luck to you. You also should be sure to make sure you give the corydoras more then just the food they find at them bottom sometimes that is not enoug. And the oto you need to make sure they have enough algae to eat. They also like Fresh Vegs.Good Luck and have fun

no because the rule of thumb is 1 gallon per fish so no for the tetras 1. number 1 mabey it is a little pushing it but as long as you keep the tank clean you should be able to i think you should put the neon tetras in your 29 gallon tank because your tetras don't take up to much room
