I would say President Eisenhower. Lately I have been reading what he said and wrote, and he was brilliant. He also helped America win WW2.
He warned the country that things were headed to where they are now, that the military industry was going to stick its hands into every branch of government, and people did not want to listen. The more we fight, the more these companies make in profit.
That's why we have to attack nations who have not attacked us. That's why we have 750 bases in 130 countries around the world. That's why we have an Air Force bigger than Russia's and China's put together. That is why half of the Federal Budget goes to support the military.

Steve Jobs. Without a doubt !
He brought about fundamental changes in the personal computer industry, the music industry and now the telephone industry.
Those changes were due to the application of revolutionary interfaces (The mouse and the GUI for the personal computer, the Click wheel for the iPod and the multi-touch display for the iPhone).
For years Jobs was maligned by hordes of lesser men. Most of them, we no longer read.
Jobs is the most charismatic American today.
He once said "Not all of our decisions needed to be right, just enough of them"
And he told John Sculley, "Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water or do you want a chance to change the world?"
Steve has (greatly helped) changed the world.
What makes he/she complete?
Vision, Passion, determination and intelligence.

A non-political leader. Pope John Paul II because of the great strides he took in bringing an end to the Cold War and communism in Eastern Europe. Also his work in bringing together more Catholicism with other denominations of Christianity but also looking at the need to build bridges to other religions also especially Judaism and Islam. The Pope traveled the world more than any other pope and even to those who were not Catholic showed the love that mankind should have for each other. He also made great reforms to Catholicism itself by opening up leadership roles out of the traditional Church countries of Europe and North America but now in Africa, Asia, and South America.
