No, I am from Mexico, and every time I come to the US, I buy minutes and use my prepaid phone. It's much cheaper than using my mexican phone and paying roaming charges. Also, I think they are great for teenagers and kids so they have a limit on their cell phone use.

Any person can use a pre-paid phone, good credit or bad! It just depends on what your needs are. You have to watch out though. If you buy a pre-paid card and don't use all of your minutes and they expire, they are gone! So don't buy more then you need! Also, if you let it expire, you will have a new number again when you "re-charge" it. It all depends on your needs. Also, if you use text messaging, it may deplete your account quicker and have to "recharge" more often.

No. I have good credit but prefer to use a pre paid phone. I don't really talk much, so it saves me money (and keeps me out of a contract), but I think it would depend on how much you use your phone.

No. They can be for people who want to save money, or who only want to use the phone when necessary.
