I recently came across an article about the cons of using birth control pills. It says for every year a woman is on the pill, her uterus ages two years. I have been on the pill for ten years, so at 30, my uterus would be that of a 40 year old.
That scares me. I want to have a family, but my husband and I may not be financially ready for a few more years.
Should I get off the pill, or am I making a mountain out of a mole-hill?

Always question your sources.

There are MANY sources out there that are in fact anti-birth control ( i.e. certain religious attitudes). Unless the information is coming from a reputable, non-biased source or your doctor's lips, you have the authority to question it.

There are both risks and benefits, but there are certainly more benefits.

I encourage you to read up and talk to your doctor.

Planned Parenthood is a great site for information. You could even fire off a question or two in that direction.

Much luck.

I don't know the science, but I do know that there are plenty of women that have had problems becoming pregnant after being on the pill for a long time.
not only that but by prolonging your use of hormone affecting drugs you are damaging your body.
They can raise your blood pressure, increasing your risk for stroke also.

try a paragard IUD. they are the only form of non-hormone birth control out there. they last up to twelve years but can be taken out at any time.
good luck.

Where is this article? Got a link?

Is it from a reliable source?

I would really look into this before freaking out.

A quick google does not show anything about this, so I would write this off as being just a scare tactic.
