Yes, and No. The French assistance was helpful, and without them the decisive victory at Yorktown might not have happened.
However there was an enormous amount of opposition in Britain to sending troops to suppress the colonists. In 1782 Lord North's Government that had been in favor of suppressing the colonists lost the elections and was replaced with the Whig party which was in favor of giving the U.S more Autonomy. So if the French had not helped we might not have gained complete Independence, but most likely been given control of internal affairs such as taxation, like Canada in 1867.

The States wouldn't have been able to do it without help from expirienced generals and trained troops but help would probably have come even if the French had not. There were plenty of European countries that wanted to cause problems for Britain.

Yes, because the French did not give us as much assistance as we sometimes believe. The French did send troops to assist us, but they did offer their navy. But the French were more concerned with dealing with the British. At times the French fleet would leave and go to the Caribbean to protect their interests or to take control of British possessions while they were busy fighting the Americans.

NO - with out the French navy the Royal Navy would have been able to supply our troops. We won so many battles but each battle drained our resources. We lost because of the lack of provision.

However it did back fire on the French because much of the driving force behind the revolution was the returning troops and sailors spreading dissatisfaction.

Most likely yes. If French were not allies, Spain and Portugal were having their own scores to settle with Britain and would have lent helping hand (obviously on some kind of sharing basis). Besides, the motivation level of Americans also needs to be taken into cognizance.

I agree without the French we wouldn't be a nation today...we would still be an English colony. Without our help the French would be a German colony. So debt repaid

Not at that time, but let's not pretend -- the French didn't do it out of altruism. They were pursuing their own objectives. I think the American colonists repaid them with interest when they won the war of independence.
