do those lants or coral grow from the live rock

Sometimes. What "live" really means is that there are living bacteria that will help with the conversion of ammonia and nitrite (toxic products from fish waste, overfeeding, and deaths in the tank) to the far less toxic nitrate.

But that doesn't mean there aren't other things that are alive - I've found sponges, clams/bivalves, snails, at least 3 kinds of shrimp, seastars, brittle slars, sea urchins, tunicates, fan worms, chitons, and yes, corals on mine (I was never lucky enough to get anemones other than Aiptaisia, and these are a nuisance - a peppermint shrimp or two will remove them).

yes you get alot of free critters with the rock, but corals you will have to buy. you get things like worms, pods, mini star fish, i had a plant on one fo mine once, but i forgot about it and placed it on the bottom, lol. crabs, and snails are fialry commen as well. ah and feather dusters, all kinds of mini feather dusters, i love those things, give you soething to look at until you get corals

Yes live rock has living things growing on it .... corals and anenome's .... but look when you byy as each one is different.
