Kashmir is a problem which is kept As a Proplem so as to keep both and india and Pakistan always busy with each other and not letting them think of some development and progress to make in both the countries ....obviously when the governaments would spend such a huge budget on defence how can they take care of the people ..and this is a reason both the countries are called third world countries inspite of all resources and capability to develope. .! so these two countries can neither swallow it nor spit ! This is the base of all the problems actualy and only beneficial for the army on both the sides and some "Big powers" too and they don't want to resolve it

No one is doing anything..but Yes...These days heavy discusions are going on..and it would carry on for ages without the solution!

the Only soulution to this problem is what Nehru jee had given in 1947.."Let kashmiris decide what they want" Kashmir neither belongs toPakistan nor to India but to the kashmirs only ..so why not let them decide what way they want to go and once they decide it,then that should be final whether it goes in favour or against any of the side !

I think its getting more than enough for kashmirs and for the public of both the countries...The great politicans and army had played enough with innocent lives and this should be over now!

Edit
Spock(rhp)..You are soo biased...!Pakistan is not funding it ..And secondly There had been no such election for the kashmiris to decide their fate ..Yes but it was promised in 1947 by Indian governament and till yet this is just a promise and has not been fulfilled ! Kashmir is in control of india and Pakistan has nothing to do with it!But yes Pakistan does support Kashmir on every ground becuase kashmiris want this.. !Ever heard kashmirs on indian media even?? There are kashmiris muslims who are fighting for their freedom and this is their right !

If all parties involved peacefully cooperate towards achieving economic growth, then tourism could be developed as a money spinner, even outbeating the Kerala model. Kashmir is no less, probably more scenic than Switzerland, and certainly very much more affordable. Imagine the economic benefits all round to every single person in the state, if peace were to prevail thus spawning a huge, huge tourism industry ? There is nothing anyone else can do about it unless the actual parties come to their senses and come together for mutual benefit. The people of Kashmir should come forth.

Firstly, What is the Kashmir problem ?
The problem is that half the Original State is "forcibly occupied" by Pakistan since 1947 and it is not only not willing to accept it's earlier "bullies" but it is now trying to capture the rest of it too !!! (via measures like pumping-in militants and Kargil like misadventures).

Secondly, how did it happen ?
In 1947, Kashmiris said they wish to remain Independent, rather than join either India or the newly separated Pakistan. This gave rise to sinister designs among Pakistan and it saw a great opportunity to occupy the full Kashmir by a military action. The then ruler, Raja Hari Singh immediately asked India for help. India rightfully asked them to join or 'ACCEDE" to India first then only it was possible for them to help them. But the moment Raja Hari agreed to be a part of India, INSTEAD OF DRIVING PAKISTANI FORCES BACK and teaching them a lesson, NEHRU MADE THE "BIGGEST BLUNDER EVER" to go to the UNO for help !!! (A blunder which is the genesis of the whole problem NOW).
And UNO, instead of telling Pak to pullout, called for a (bloody) "CEASE FIRE" first, to access the situation (and they are accessing it till NOW). So, the line, up to which the Pakistani forces entered, when the cease-fire was called, became the LINE OF CONTROL and the area is called the Pak "occupied" Kashmir (POK). It is thus an Indian territory, forcibly occupied by Pakistan !!!

Lastly, what is the solution ?
Well, now (let's be practical) India ( begin a SOFT STATE ) can never imagine to get back POK. So, let us at least zero-in to a solution to freeze the "Line of control" as the permanent boarder between the both countries. And India on it's part should permanently seal this boarder and keep no relations whatsoever with a ROUGE STATE CALLED PAKISTAN EVER !!!
Hope this answer the question, once and for all.

(SMARNY, it is shocking if anyone hopes that POK should go to Pakistan, a country which has GRABBED it by shear FORCE !!! )

The Kashmir problem is there for over five decades. No immediate solution can be found. It will be solved only when religions the greatest divider of people are erased from the globe. It will never happen but I still nurse a wishful thinking about it. Neither military solution nor across the table negotiations will help. Is it not a paradox that people of the same lineage hate one another? lileeann33

Solution is
Partition Kashmir to Hindu Kashmir and Muslim Kashmir proportionally based on total lands held with them at the time of partition in Punjab, Bengal and Kashmir during 1947 and thereafter declare India Hindu Nation and deal with all Pakistani terrorists with Iron hands.

as I recall my history [a few of us Yanks even read a bit of it], in the 1947 plebiscate, the populance of Kashmir voted to become independent of both Pakistan and India under the governance of their traditional ruling house.

However, it seems that this wasn't good enough for the Paki government and they almost immediately began funding trouble in Kashmir with the ultimate resolution that the Kashmir government invited troops from India into their country to prevent it being conquered by armed hordes of Muslims and forceably integrated into Pakistan.

So, in my humble opinion, America should tell General M. that either he and his country ceases ALL offenses and provocations in Kashmir or the tilt of America will henceforth go toward India and he'd then best learn to speak Chinese in a hurry.

When is a vote of the people not the final word? When some hothead Muslim decides he wants to choose for everyone else and is willing to kill to have his way.

I don't think Paki is much different on this. Indonesia now is different and still majority Muslim.

I think Kashmir is vulnerable to terrorists and terror attacks. My advice is to provide Kashmir with better army and soldiers, better technologies like night vision cameras, high and better fencing, better military equipments for the border security police and better protection for the people of beautiful Kashmir. In this way,the terrorists will be tracked down before attacking the innocent and vulnerable people.Education is the key part for solving this problem.

Thanks and regards,

Pakistan must remember that Hindu Pandits also belong to kashmir. The only solution is military solution. This is my personal view.

Kashmir is one of those stupid international things that has no solution that will actually work, because the factions involved have become so entrenched in thier positions, and so fond of murdering eachother, that they can't even contemplate giving it up.

i think that it is a ever ending problem and the solution to this is been in research for ages and many times people thought that it will be solved out but the more it worsens. Now some steps are taken by incorporating bus service facility but Musharraf does not cooperate
