sure homeschool, but they can't go into places that are owned by other people...like state land, etc...and I am FINE with them passing the taxes on to us! They already do anyhow...only now, it is open to competition, which drives prices down...

I like it. But we also need to stop going to war just to reduce Middle East oil production to drive up oil company profits.

You do understand, ANY increase in costs of producing oil or gasoline will be passed on to the consumer. That said. I'm very willing to let the free market take over in regards to the oil companies. Of course, that includes allowing them to drill and refine oil without government restrictions as well. Taxes are also paid by the consumer. Do you think CEO's pay corporate taxes?

I will go for that.

But at the same time we need to NOT subsidize ethanol, it is a horrible idea.

We need to allow oil companies to develop tar sands, and oil shale, and we need to standardize the 13 blends of gasoline into maybe 3 of them. And we need to allow for more refineries to be built.

It is the only long-term strategy that will bring down oil prices.

And do you also have an idea as to how we can force oil companies into responsible business practices? In other words, make them financially liable for the consequences of their doing business? As opposed to making citizens liable for the consequences of their doing business? As in Valdez, air pollution, toxic ruination at refinery accidents, etc?

I'm listening...

I think Exxon Mobil needs to be shutdown because they have never paid their fines to date for the Exxon Valdez oil spill on the Alaskan Coast line. They committed the crime, they need to be punished for it.

The best way to stop subsidizing them is to stop electing people who represent them.
