No one likes to be a "quitter." But there are situatuions which are so bad, or goals that are just not worth the cost, and one has to cut one's losses. Not often, but there are some occasions.

When did this happen to you? Are you glad you stopped putting effort into something that wasn't right for you? Was it hard to admit to yourself? Are you glad you did?

Thanks.

My first boyfriend. He was an abusive racist skin head (I know, can you believe?) and i was young and stupid. I fell into the abusee role, and it was very difficult to get away from him, and very hard to admit that I made a HUGE mistake. I am glad I did.

Had to quit drinking or, more accurately, get out of the habit. Of course I am happy about that. I had to draw a line in the sand at one job, and then walk when they crossed it. My immediate superior there was a quality person and I miss working with him sometimes, but it was the right move to maintain my personal integrity, such as it is.

Someone who I hoped would be a close friend is just too self-destructive to help. You can't help someone who doesn't want to listen.

Am I glad I'm cuttng my losses? No, it breaks my heart.

I quit a very good paying job due to stress. It was horrible, and I would quit again if I had it to do over.
