Halloween, 2003
I suspected my then fiance was cheating on me. I told my brother I would leave work early, and go home. I would meet my brother at his house after.
When I got home, he was just climbing into bed, with another woman. She freaked and ran out.
I stared him down, and turned to leave.
The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital. My jaw was broken, I had a concussion, and a list of other injuries.
My brother got worried, when I didn't show up. He went to my place to check on me. If he didn't, I'd have died of internal bleeding on my own kitchen floor. No one would have known what happened, my ex had no history of violence whatsoever.
I still don't remember everything.

I have been in many situations which, some might think would be the scariest of my life, e.g. being in the immediate area where most of the scud missiles landed during the Gulf War and all that it entailed, preparing a "sealed room", carrying a gas mask and other items in case of chemical attack, enduring approx 40 "alerts", etc. But at these times I just put myself in the hands of Fate (or God or whatever one chooses to call it).
The scariest things for me are the ones which happen so suddenly and unexpectedly that you don't have time to think about the "what ifs". One really scary moment I still remember from years ago was getting into the lift to go down from a high floor of a very tall building in the city centre ... it literally dropped to the ground (I later found out it was what they call an express lift) ... talk about seeing your life flash in front of you ... that, for me, was ONE SCARY MOMENT!

When I was in Iraq at the very beginning, before we even invaded, President Bush gave Sadaam 48 hours to get out and in retaliation, Sadaam's men shot off some SCUD missiles at the northernmost Kuwait bases. I happened to be driving to one of those bases and I arrived there ok, but just as I opened my door to get out, a SCUD flew over my Hummv and impacted less than 200 feet away. Luckily, it was a dud (it didn't blow up) but the shock wave still threw me to the ground and busted out my right eardrum from the concussion. If the missile had actually detonated, it has a killing radius of 300 meters; There probably wouldn't have been much left of me. So, that was my scariest memory.

i develop into using an SUV down the interstate with my mom and nephew interior the automobile. We have been promptly beside a semi truck--my automobile interior the different lane based between the front of his truck and the returned of his truck. The dude basically starts to merge over interior the lane like we weren't even there. I swerved, honked the horn, and positioned my foot on the gas so as that with a bit of luck i ought to get remote from him. I extremely made it previous him. If I hadn't been paying interest to the line or if I had finding returned at my nephew or over at my mom for a split 2nd we would have all been ineffective. My adrenaline develop into pumping so annoying and that i develop into so offended precise afterwards that i'll have strangled that driving force to loss of life devoid of blinking an eye fixed. yet then i found out how close we had come to loss of life. particularly my nephew he develop into basically 3 y/o. The scariest area develop into the considered something going on to my nephew.

We used Northwest airlines. We were just about to take off in a puddle-jumper, and suddenly the plane veered off the runway, sharply. In the terminal the pilot said that a 747 was coming right up behind us and would have crashed into us if he hadn't veered. I couldn't stop shaking thinking of what might have been...

When I was 14, a man broke into the house where I was babysitting. Didn't hurt me or the children just ransacked the house but it was very scary not knowing what he was going to do.

One night two friends and I went to taco bell, and a truck full of guys chased us around with a gun. We crashed on the highway, and they came up to the window, took the driver's wallet, taged up the car, then took off. We couldn't agree what kind of truck it was so the cops weren't able to find them. I was pretty stoned, but still thought I was gonna die.
