1. What detailed specs about my motherboard should I look at (besides AGP/PCI ports) when buying a graphics card so I know that my motherboard can handle the card without wasting power or using too much voltage.

1. You will need PCI - E slots not PCI.

2. Make sure your case is big enough. Some modern graphics card are 10 inches long.

3. Check to see how many watts your power supply has. You will need at least a 500 watt power supply to run the modern high end graphics cards.

4. If you don't even know what to look for on your motherboard to determine what type of graphics card you can get, then there is no way in hell you are ready for overclocking anything. You not on that tech level yet.

Most any motherboard will handle the grafics card that fits that port. I would not however put the latest card in a 2 year old computer. The key to remember is the cost of your cpu should be close to the cost of the grafics card to get a good match for optimal preformance.
About overclocking a grafics card, there is not much need to do that. However you can find info on your card by doing a google search for overclocking and the card.

if u do not know much about computer, which it looks like u don't, don't even think about overclocking it.
