The wormers I have seen in the feed stores are for 1200lbs horses. So what if your horse is a lot larger then that? Thanks for your answers

D- To say that my horse is abused is just stilly. To give a treatment like wormer does not require a vet. And I am not asking for medical advice, I am asking for dosage advice. Thanks for your input anyways.

Unfortunately for you, you will have to buy two of the same dewormer. The good news is that you can save what ever is left over until the next time you use that brand. Make sure to check the expiration date and put the cap back on the tube after you give it to your horse. Store it in a cool dry place. Since your horse weighs 1800 lbs., give him the full 1200 tube and then give him 600 lbs. worth of the second tube. Hope this helped.

First of all D--you must not have horses, you kook! It's a common fact that though a vet CAN deworm a horse, so can ANYONE. People that own horses know that deworming is just as good when you do it yourself...and reccomended! It's easier than calling someone out every time, and just as safe. You're way off...
I agree with the others on here--I have a draft (1700lbs) and we have to give him about a tube and a half. Kind of an annoyance, you'd think with the growing number of draft owners they'd make draft dewormers, huh?

You definitely don't need a vet to administer wormer! My draft weighs about the same, so I give her one and a half tubes of wormer. The nice thing about dewormer is there's a huge margin for error, so even if your horse got two tubes, nothing adverse would happen.
What kind of horse? Just curious.

I think the first person said it pretty well! Just Buy two and keep using the leftovers =) you really want to make sure that ya dont skimp out on the worming.
You are right, worming is something that is commonly done by MANY MANY horse owners and calling a vet out to worm everymonth would be a waste of money-- a silly one at that. In fact, the vet would probably laugh at you and honestly wouldn't waste his time to worm a horse when there are much more important things to take care of.

You definitely need two wormers and it's OK to give him the complete second tube if you want to. With the exception of Quest, the other wormers have a large safety factor to their dosage.

Julie, just buy two tubes of wormer. Give the horse all of one tube and half of the other tube. Oh and ignore people like D, they don't have anything better to do than to rag other people.

The tubes are notched for every so many pounds - for easy math let's say every 200 lbs. There's a lock-dial to administer only "so much" medicine (in case you have a 900 lbs horse - you don't want to overdose either).
that said, if each tube is enough for 1200 lbs - then you'll need to buy 2 tubes - but administer only 1 1/2 tubes.

Just use two tubes, and id throw the rest away, or at least don't use it on another horse out there.

You should buy the double pack and give him one whole. Give him a 600 pound dose of the next one. Put the cap back on the syringe and put it back in the box. Keep it in a cool, dry place until the next de-worming.
Hope this helped!
