The Cambrian trilobites, shellfish, etc. i.e. Edicarian fauna commonly found in Canada are not primitive. The answer should include: None of the above. Every organism has its differences in order to survive in its particular environment. Organisms are uniquely designed for their environment; not simple, primitive, etc. The Phacops rana trilobite has one of the most complex compound eyes seen in nature. Similar to a bee's eyes but more complex. It uses higher mathematics of a rocket scientist in its design. It had binocular vision and could see three dimensionally and could tell distance. This does not sound like a simple organism. It has also been discovered that single celled organisms have cells just as complex as any multi celled organism, there is no such thing as a simple call. This has been termed Darwin's Black Box.

Although I don't need references for information because of my experience in this type of research, I give references below for the readers benefit.

The answer is: All organisms are well designed for their particular environment. It does not matter if it requires complex structure, or what in our ignorance we call simple. And the Cambrian Ediacaran fauna appears to be the result of the burial of deep water marine animals, which scientists would assume would be buried first during the first stages of a sedimentary cataclysm.
