Big Browns fan but I think 8-8 is probably the top they can pull of this year. If they do that and the new guys show they are the real deal I'll be happy.

No. They will win 4 or 5 games. Cleveland's offense is not where it needs to be to contend. Jamal Lewis is used up, and Brady Quinn needs a year or two at the NFL level to be a solid QB. They will have a very good offensive line and that may help Quinn develop more quickly. Defense is also looking old with Ted Washington, Orpheus Roye, and Kenny Wright. The Browns will not contend in the division until next year or 2009.

AFC North will look like this in '07.

Cincinnati: 11 - 5 division winner
Baltimore: 9 - 7 wild card berth
Pittsburgh: 8 - 8
Cleveland: 5 - 11

I say this as a Browns fan since the '80's...anything can happen, but I'd be really surprised if they are any better than 6-10. Their O-Line will be improved but still needs help and time to gel. Brady Quinn will need at least a year to learn. Jamal Lewis is not the answer. The defense is improving but also needs another year.

I'm encouraged that they're on the right track, but 8-8 or 9-7 will have to wait until 2008, and then they'll make the playoffs in 2009.

Ha! Sorry, coming from a completely unbiased opinion, the Browns should be content getting to .500. That would mean Quinn would get them a winning record next year... but it's not gonna happen. They always seem to have terrible problems with their O-line, no matter who they pick up: see LeCharles Bentley the last 2 years, Joe Andruzzi coming fresh off the Patriots, etc. Something tells me that Bengals Guard Steinbach might fall into the same trap...
Also, Winslow and Edwards absolutely MUST stay healthy all season if the Browns hope to see the offense get off the ground. I like both of them as offensive threats to go the distance every down, and if they get the aging Jamal Lewis to power over defenders keeping double coverage off Edwards and Winslow, then the trio of QB's can start winning games.
If all of that works out offensively, and thats a big if, they have a defense that can holds its own against many offenses in the league.

I believe they have a shot as long as everyone stays healthy. The offensive line should be very much more improved, this coming season. Most of the players have a full year under Crenel's coaching. Cleveland has one of the better wide receivers in the game, in Edwards. Cleveland also has one of, if not the best, tight end in the league. Browns also added a strong running back in the off season. I do not think they will be to much better than .500, yet I think they have a team that can win some games.

The guy before me had it right...I like the Browns I really do but their defense is pure crap it's old and slow and bad they need to fix that if they want a chance.

The offense is in transition with Brady Quinn most likely starting the season and Jamal Lewis will probably have a good year with that improved O-Line and Braylon Edwards is turning into the superstar he's supposed to be and i expect him to get better numbers when Quinn gets settled in

So the browns are still screwed mostly because of their defense and because the offense is trying to find an identity not to mention romeo crennel sucks as a coach they need a new one....quickly.

I think they finish between 6-10 and 8-8, and if they overacheive alot, 9-7. Dont forget, the Browns have a new reliable running back in Jamal Lewis who said he was excited to run for the Browns. The new and improved O Line is shaping up well, and in the next few years when Brady Quinn becomes a reliable starter, this team will be a playoff contender.

But this year, in that Division, I dont think so.

Getting past 8-8? How about getting to 8-8 as a realistic goal. The rest of their division is just too good right now for them to improve that much, especially if they go to Brady Quinn early in the season.

Jamal Lewis is past his prime. I see them going 5-11.

No. This is a terrible team. They have issues at almost every skill position. Alot of players coming off injuries and/or bad years. Is Charlie Frye a franchise qb? It doesn't look like it. You can't win in this league without a stud qb. The only way they will win is if the weather in Cleveland is so bad that the other team can't function either.

You're talking about the Browns, 8-8 IS an achievement.

Cheers.
