No you can drive on it at 16 like you can any other road in Ohio. The turnpike is just a toll road in that you have to pay every time you drive on it. When you enter the turnpike, you receive a little ticket, when you exit you give that ticket to the agent in the toll booth (sort of like when you enter and leave a public garage) and pay the applicable toll. The toll is there to fund the maintenance of the road.

No. You have to have a valid driver's license from any state.
The turnpike is now a part of the US Interstate highway system. But you will have to pay a toll to drive on it.

no you don't have to be 18. when folks say "take" they mean travel that particular road or highway. For example: Take Interstate 90 West to Cleveland, hope this helps you out. Trooperden

not from ohio, but i wouldn't suggest it if your not comfortable driving yet.....multi lane traffic can be scary for a new driver
i'm guessing this age thing comes from the different laws for permit holders and those with jr. licenses, so ask a cop (like the one a few above me )

whats a tunpike.... sorry i don't drive, i will soon though... my dad doesn't want to sign for me so i have to wait 2 months more so that i can get my license myself...... the car is no problem i got one but don't know anything about driving, i know how to drive and where to stop and yield and slow down, etc. but i don't know the actual terms they use
