They've been doing that to white men, particularly, for a long time. Making them look stupid, and the wife always has to save the day cause the men mess everything up. Just think of all the tons of sitcoms that use this formula.
I never thought this was a good role model for my sons to emulate, and and always pointed out the sterotyping to them so they didn't get brainwashed about it. Same thing for my daughters, I pointed it out to them too. Didn't want them growing up thinking white men are idiots who need to be talked down to or are stupid immature boys who never grew up. That's a recipe for disaster in any relationship, either way.

I do notice the continued trend of commercials portraying men as clueless and inept when it comes to household duties, always relying on their "supermom" wife to clean up after them and straighten out their screw-ups. Which ignores an entire segment of the population- those that don't have a woman in their life to mother them. Will the household chemicals and food companies ever wake up to the reality that more and more men are washing their own clothes, cooking their own dinner, and shopping for groceries- and stop pandering to the few remaining Leave-It-To-Beaver housewives? Imagine the uproar if commercials were to start portraying women as bumbling screw-ups!

its better then trying to make white people always look superior to other races. For year other races have been degraded on t.v. Why would it be offensive if white people look stupid. I mean if you think about it the t.v. is a very influential tool that has suppressed many people for a long time.

Add to that the growing propensity for men of any color looking stupid or inept to the female character.

Yes I have. Along with the black American family shows they make the white actors appear almost brainless.
I imagine the tables are turning the other way.
LOL and Cavemen too as the first responder said.
