The Yankees are hated because of their owner's aggressive philosophy of putting the best possible team he can on the field for his fans.

George has always spent money on the Yankees from the very first day he purchased the team and this is nothing new to long time baseball and New York fans.

Most of them don't know it but it's the "Bosses" philosophy that they hate and not the team itself.

I hate the yankees because they're all about the money and nothing about the game. They think baseball is all about money and who has the best players. They buy their way into everything. You've only been a fan since the beginning of the year?? That's what I mean everyone new to baseball automatically picks the yankees because they are the most publicized because their truckloads of money. I just don't think it's right when people automatically think the yankees are the best team. "Fans" boo at the players and the team and tell them they suck. Hmm.. that doesn't sound like supporting the team to me. They only actually like them when they are doing well.

I haven't seen them make the biggest comeback in baseball, have you? To me, comebacks are better than winning 26 rings. My advice, check some of the other teams, they've done things or had players just as amazing as the yankees. (ie Boston).

Why do I hate the Yankees?

Because their starting lineup's salary is more than most teams entire payroll.

Because they don't develop their own talent, they just buy everyone elses players.

Because they continuosly throw millions of dollars at free agents so small market teams can't afford them while still fielding a decent team.

Because the national media obsesses over them. In the offseason, Dan Patrick and Keith Oberman spent fifteen minutes on their national radio show talking about A Rod possibly moving to outfield. No one out side of New York or Boston really cares where A Rod plays.

Because every time the national sports media covers baseball the Yankees are covered in their top three stories no matter how insignificant the news is. (A Red Sox story is usually in the mix as well)

Because no matter how much better baseball is being played in the county everyone constantly talks about the race between the Yankees and the Red Sox. (Never mind the three team race in the AL Central and the much improved NL West. Hell even the Mets don't get as much coverage as the Yankees and their still in New York).

Get the picture?

It's hard to support any franchise that routinely drives up market values for middle of the road talent as they overpay for free agents on their way to a championship. Whatever the Yankees need, they can buy. Other small market franchises who lack the revenue cannot compete in a system like this even with wealthier franchises aiding a revenue sharing plan through their luxury tax.

And if I'm not mistaken, the amount the Yankees pay in luxury tax exceeds the payrolls of some franchises.

A-Rod's a great player. I hope to see him continue his streak and eventually break what seems likely to eventually become Bonds' record.

On another note, even the most casual of sports fans appreciate the idea of the 'front runner' or the 'bandwagon' fan. Where the Yankees are concerned, it's hard not to fall suspect of being either when you suddenly announce your support.

If you are serious about sticking with the Yankee fandom you only just acquired at the beginning of the year, I suggest you follow them closely. Learn their history. Become an 'informed Yankee fan' and not just a 'Yankee fan.' The only shot at redemption a Yankee fan has is to be sincere in their support of the team.

This world is full of two types of people: Yankees supporters and Red Sox supporters. I don't care who their favorite team is, everyone has an opinion on the matter of Boston vs. New York.

I tend towards the Boston side of things.

Creggz...you said it perfectly! That is the reason why. It's easy to jump on a team that wins all the time. It's harder to root for a team that has their ups and downs. That is why when the Sox won or even the Patriots first won, it was that much sweeter. Yankee fans "expect" to win it all and just say, yup, we are the best, see we won again. The rest of the league fans, "hope" to win it all, and when they do win, it has so much more meaning to them and they truly appreciate the chance to taste it, because they are not "used" to always winning it, which usually results in being spoiled. I know many people feel the same way about Patriot fans and sometimes they are right. Some are spoiled and don't remember how it was twenty-thirty years ago to support that team. It's usually the "new" fan or "bandwagon" fan that are the one's who talk out of their a@@, because they are spoiled and don't remember the "down" times.

Cause I'm an A's fan!

The Yankees are overpaid and overrated. The A's get to the same spot or at least very close almost every year on probably less than half of the Yankees budget. They're like pompous rich kids.

Hey! As a New Yorker and a Met fan people hate the Yankees because first they have the most championships, second George Steinbrenners attitude to win every year and spending a lot of money on players that dont deserve that money (carl pavano), third they play in New York most fans hate new york city, and finally people hate the yankees because of their fans because the yankees could have a losing season but their fans can turn to their 26 world championships, even though they havent won since 2000 and lose in the playoffs every year since rather than the fans admitting their team isnt that good is as advertised.

Hey, I like the Yankees. Baseball is the only sport I know of in which people hate winners. Like who you like. A-Rod was an excellent choice. Right now the Yankees do happen to have a bad owner. Stick with them. They will still be good when he's gone. I picked them and Mickey Mantle. I had no idea of their history when I did. A couple of years later they went 13 years without winning a thing. I still backed them. Don't listen to logic or to people who criticize you. It's like having a favorite color, your favorite team. You don't know why your favorite color is your favorite color, it just is. And you can't just change that. Listen to your heart.

i hate the yankees because im from boston

i used to not mind a rod, but he turned out to be a jerk. taking a stripper out with him, distracting the third baseman, hes just been awful. hes a great ball player though.

As much as i hate the yankees, i like jeter. hes one of the best players in the league and hes always a tough out. i hate him for being on the yankees though.

i dont mind rivera, mainly because he handed the sox the ALCS in 04.

Torre is a great manager, but i hate him.

i used to love damon when he was with the sox, but he just wanted money and went to the yankees. what a douche.

giambi used steroids.

matsui is ugly

posada looks like a mouse

cabrera has a weird first name

i dont have a problem with cano

last but certainly not least, we come to clemens. he is the biggest turd in the world. piazza took him deep, so he hits him in the head. he throws the broken bat at piazza. he wants all these benefits from the team that hes on. the way that hes pitching this year, i think he deserves as much benefits as any other pitcher. just their pay check

everyone hates the yanks because they have the largest payroll in baseball and they have the luxury other teams dont have, which is to spend money when in a pinch (ie Clemmens)

but what i (a true yanks fan) dont understand is why people say the yanks buy 'chips. obviously they havnt, because their last series was in 2000. they do spend money lavishly, i will say that, but its moronic to say they buy wins.

you picked a bad time to become a yanks fan. you joined at the peak of yankee-hatred. the yanks have the most fans, but the fans of all 29 other teams hate the yanks. its a curse

but people always hate teams that do well. its why most of the basketball world hates the pistons and spurs, why most of the hockey world hates the red wings, why most of the football world hates the patriots!

teams that win alott are hated by fans of teams that dont
