First, you need to secure a lease from the state for at least 3 acres of salt water marsh shallows. Thats after mountains of paperwork that include water quality tests and if approved the purchase seed oysters. Start up costs would be a minimum of $10,000. Wait 3 years before you harvest. A hurricane can wipe you out in one day. If the land is good for oysters you can bet a lease already exists, active or not.
