I'm 41. I miss my loner days. Sometimes I am happy for my daughter that she has the internet since she is a loner. On the other hand I wish she could have more of an active life for health reasons. My gosh I would have been much happier when I was a loner if I had the internet.

i believe that really no one's a complete loner, but we all have different ways of reaching out to the world. And these people telling you this stuff proves that you're not a loner. They care, otherwise they wouldn't bring it up. You have to care to love someone, and you have to care to hate someone. so either way, they care about you. And past high school, i don't really believe there is a way to "act your age." And if this is how you are and you've been living for 23 years with it, there can't be anything seroiuly wrong with you, right?

You are normal. Acting your age, thats just an excuse people use to go out and party all the time. I'm 22, and i don't act my age, i also own my own business and have a great job as head of purchasing for my company. Not acting your age can be very good sometimes. There is nothing wrong with you, i am the same way you are. Don't listen to people that don't know the real you. You are who you are, they can like it or not, you are the only one that knows what makes you happy. That's all that matters.

in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with being a loner. i am the same way. there is no need to be among people all the time. sure its nice to go out every once in a while, but its also nice to be home and relax. as long as you aren't a shut-in you are perfectly fine. hope this helps!

Being a 'misanthrope' is the problem (Jeffrey Dalhmer or John Wayne Gacey, etc.) but being non-gregarious is just fine.
I've been a 'loner' all my life and I think I am just fine. You'll never find me in a screaming crowd or large gathering of people, but you'll find me at a museum or nice bar chatting with other like minded people.

i am a graduate in psychology. and theoretically there is nothing wrong with this. you just may be introverted, and a lot of people like there own company. i do to. if or when you begin to fear social contact or social settings, than that is when to worry.
definitly nothing wrong with it. people who say that is not normal behaviour just don't understand you wanting to stay in. not everybody is a social creature. that is why everyone is different.

The question is are you happy? If YOU are happy then it doesn't matter. It's unfair that loners are seen as weirdos by most people.

There is NOTHING wrong with you. If you like spending time with yourself and you like who you are, then it doesn't matter what other people say or think. Don't worry. My best advice for you is be yourself and don't change because people tell you your not acting your age.
