They can get damaged whiskers from being netted and moved rather easily. What you are seeing could be a result of an old injury or possibly received in the more recent move. Either way, it should eventually grow out and be just fine. This could also cause his funny swimming and laying down habit. Give this some time too to see if he changes things, or if he always lays on the same side and is it the one with the damaged whisker.. those could be clues as to the cause.

Sorry to say you have carnivore fish and need to feed them meat products like bloodworms and others. Of course, a good staple pellet or flake should be most of their diet withthe other foods a few times a week.

Sucks but you have to go get the bloodworms at least. Its no big deal you can buy them in a little can and its not even that gross. That is what I have to do for my fish. If you want these to be healthy you have to feed them what they need. If that is too gross then you should give them to someone who doesn't get creeped out by that stuff.

catfish eat just about anything that get in their way. i would assume they would be fine with fruits and veggies. for special food you can get sinking wafers for catfish -- not the algae kind though.

i wouldn't worry too much about the whisker. optimal whisker function might be necessary in the wild but not in your aquarium.

they like to have glass catfish friends so you might want to think about getting them some. an opitmal shoal would be at least 6.

i would recommend feeding them the flakes but you could basically feed them anything the are good eaters. as for bloodworms you can buy them frozen in cubes or you can buy them freeze dried and both are much cleaner than having your own live worms

good luck with your fish
