Sure he was... so what? That makes him a sorry excuse for a human? Just because you don't agree with someone's political views doesn't mean you have to attack their character and personal life. I don't agree with a lot of things Rush says but I'm not going to judge him as a human because he made a few mistakes... I'm sure you're the only one on this earth that has never made a mistake. Why must we hate each other? Get over it and be happy.

From all accounts, he is addicted to Oxycontin (I believe), which is a very powerful narcotic used to control pain. My grandmother used to take this before she passed away due to severe back pain cause by complications of ALS and she proved that it is a very addictive substance.
Politics aside, Mr. Limbaugh did what a lot of people who are addicted to a controlled substance do, when they can't get it legally, they'll get it any way they can. When someone goes to great lengths to get a medication through illicit means, they're either very poor (which he isn't) or addicted (which he is).
The other side of the coin is that the reason his case became the center of media attention is because he lambasted others who've abused narcotics and other drugs. His belief was that they should all be locked away or done away with altogether. There's an old saying: "Those who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones."

Why is it when you become addicted to pain killers after suffering from terrible pain, you are a sad excuse for a human being? I don't care for Rush, but thats a pathetic excuse to attack the man. I hope you are never in severe pain and end up addicted to the only thing that brings you relief. Guesss that would make you a sad excuse for a human being too?

His addiction DOES NOT make him a sad excuse for a human
Humans error plain and simple
His relentless call for drug abusers to be sent to prisonand throw away the keys, while he was a drug addict himself Makes Him a Sad Excuse for a Human

yes total drug addict and he broke laws to get the drugs
he said some weird things about drugs and addicts:
"Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be
convicted and they ought to be sent up."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.

"What this says to me is that too many whites are getting away with drug use, too many whites are getting away with drug sales, too many whites are getting away with trafficking in this stuff. The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."
-- Rush Limbaugh. October 5, 1995 show transcript.

"It's kind of like sentencing. A lot of people say that we have a heavy sentence for this crime and a light sentence for another crime, and what we ought to do is reduce the heavy sentence so it's more in line with the other. Wrong. In most cases we ought to increase the light sentence and make it compatible with the heavy sentence, and be serious about punishment because we are becoming too tolerant as a society, folks, especially of crime, in too many parts of the country."

I'm not a fan of Rush Limbaugh. I think he misleads a large portion of the population. That's just my opinion. But his private life is still none of my business. Hell, we all probably have one addiction or another. Me, for example, I contribute to YA Politics when I really should be working.

He was addicted to Oxycontin to the tune of 30 pills per day. He got caught having an assistant fill multiple prescriptions. Word got out, and he checked into rehab. He claims to be drug-free now.
Of course, he makes all kinds of ridiculous claims, so who knows?

Did you answer your queston? Seems so. People who are addicted do not want to be that way. I applaud him if he stays clean. He won't hurt you so no need to try to denigrate him for having an addicition. He is in the company of 10% of all Americans.

rush Limbaugh is an american icon and has almost single handily made liberals obsolete that is why they are trying to get him off the air so badly....they have no answer for him except to flail away desperately and hope they put a scratch on his image[ooh i guess you are perfect and have never had a problem with anything, unlike the chronic back pain he was suffering from]....and to my knowledge this was about two years ago when he went to rehab and openly admitted his problem

No, not at all. He's a great radio host/ author. Thats what some liberals wish to portray him as. I dont know much about the subject but I think a long time ago he was addicted to something but it wasn't that bad. I'm not sure but he is an amazing dude.
