Well you do not need a modem unless you plan to use dial-up services. A NIC (network interface card) will be needed for you machine to communicate with anything other than itself. This NIC can be wireless or use ethernet rj45 jack (thats the one that looks like a big phone jack). Having said that your question seems a little misguided.
If you want to use the wireless feature your router provides you need a wireless NIC. If your computer does not have a NIC (which i find it hard to believe) you must install one. I hope this helps.

The new pc needs a wireless network interface card to communicate w. the router. If you are retiring the old pc, you probably can remove it from the old and install in the new; of course make sure you have the drivers for it.
If you plan to use the old pc, buy a new wireless network interface card for the new pc and properly configure it.

If you want to connect the router with a cable to the tower, then the tower needs a modem on it. However, if you want to connect the tower wirelessly using your wireless router, the tower needs to have a wireless desktop card.

Not if your new computer will be the primary pc connected to the router through an ethernet connection...if its a brand new tower then it should already have an ethernet connection.
