If you look at the publics overall view of government it is all like that. I just heard a poll last night on the congress and it is 10% approval ratings lowest it has ever been. I would suggest that currently most of the public is not happy with the government. I think it may be time for revolution. I believe one of our founding fathers said a country needs a good revolution now and then.

I think it's part of a general lack of trust with the government right now. People are upset about the way things are going in a vague way, what with Iraq, Congressional bickering, etc. The Supreme Court gets thrown in with that feeling.

I don't really buy the theory that recent decisions have done much to erode confidence. The makeup of the Court has changed over the years. In this case, a rising tide will raise all boats, and eventually the Court's approval rating will rebound.

The Supreme Court is becoming too proactive. Their job is to see that laws are Constitutional not make the laws. That is the role of the Congress. I don't think the Court and the rest of the government is out of touch with the average citizen.

It's my understanding that the Supreme Court is to interpret legal matters involving the constitutionality of such matters and that was that. If it was not addressed in the Constitution, it would be a state matter, not a federal one and would not involve the Supreme Court. What the supreme court seems to do is to involve themselves at whim.

When the Supreme Court decided the election in 2000 it overstepped its bounds and lost the respect of the American people.

The vast majority of Americans no longer understand what the Supreme Court is, what it does, how it does it or the Constitution it bases its decisions on. With this level of ignorance combined with the endless assault on the judiciary by this Administration, the neo-con, lunatic fringe and their propagandists, the ratings are no surprise.
