Personally, I love the Norma Fox Mazer books...Silver (a story about a teen girl and her mom) and Good Night Mamaan (a World War II story) are two of my favorites.
You might also want to check out Sisterchicks books...Sisterchicks in Sombreros is the best of the series if you're into (slightly) Christian reading, but this series can also just be a "friendship" series--nothing preachy.
Then there's always "Holes", which is much better than the movie! :-) And I have a book on my desk to read that I haven't yet but looks interesting: The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster that is supposed to be about the "war" between math and language.

The books Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer are amazing. They are both 300-400 pgs. Very good story line and plot. And the third book will be out in about a month. I would definitely suggest those books!

I loved the Series of Unfortunate Events Series. All together, they are longer than 300 pages, but you could read the first three or something. I read the series my Freshman year of college and really enjoyed them! (my hubby likes them too!)
Have fun on your trip!

No 15 year old should go on without reading Judy Blume's "Are You There God, it's me Margaret" and "Sally J Friedman as Herself".
Also, try Danielle Steel's "Star" and "The RIng"

How about Judy Blume? I used to love her... she writes young adult and adult fiction. Try Tiger Eyes, if that is too young for you, try Forever.
