"Lady of the night" almost makes prostitution sound dignified. I like it ^_^
But yes, on to answering the question.
Women recognized that basically the only reason men were on the earth was to "spread their seed" fairly early. Our Homo sapien ancestors, living about 10,000 years ago, had prostitutes. Though they didn't have any currency (as far as they were concerned, gold and silver were just shiny rocks, and they weren't that interesting in trading [why trade when you could have an all-out battle for resources?]), the women would exchange sex for food, shelter, and protection within the tribe.
Warmongers didn't come around until about 7,000 years ago, around the time when wealth started to be measured.

maximum folk in prehistoric circumstances lived by potential of looking and amassing. those weren't seen jobs or professions however, they have been purely area of residing. Agriculture got here next, people began farming in around 10,000 B.C. Prostitution arose in societies the place a food surplus meant that folk would desire to communicate distinctive trades fairly than spending maximum of their time on food production. the place you get a diversification of trades, those trades will comprise prostitution. it rather is although no older than the different specialized commerce, and is maximum in no way a occupation.

Chicken/Egg I think... But if I had to choose, war was the first profession. Loosly supported by the fact that women were considered part of the booty.

Sorry, but farming and ranching is older than both. Can't fight without food, and how could a prostitute keep up her strength without food? For that matter, God built an apple orchard in the Garden of Eden. I think that counts as farming.

prostitution is the oldest. females needed a way to barter something in return for saftey and food. sex was the easiest and most important thing they were able to provide. the males even had to show the female which berries to pick and eat as the females learned to be the "gatherer" part of "hunter/gatherers". good thing females learned at least a few other skills.

Nope, I still say prostitution is older. Maybe the first wars were over the better earners?

First Professional Army known to man was Zargon the Greats Army, in Mesopotamia a little over 7,000 years ago.
Gotta think "Paying for Playing" went back further.... Could be wrong though....
Though if they were fighting over "who got the hookers", now we have a dilema.....................
