Depends where I am and who I'm with. As a general rule I try to be the real me but there are times when I make myself out to be somebody i'm not. I think the best example of that is when you i'm in an interview (I guess I give the impression I will work hard all the time - as opposed to surfing the net) and also when on holiday, then I get to make up a whole new me.

I really don't know. Sometimes I want to get out of myself and see how I appear to other people. Some people find me charming and attractive and then there are some who are indifferent. I am not talking about looks alone but overall personality and that's the time I have self doubts and would like to see why there is so much disparity in people's perception of me.........

Once I find out who I am I will let you know. I have been with a girlfriend before for 5 year, we were best friends as well as a couple. They day she left me her last words were, “ill never understand you or really know you, I don’t think anyone really will, ever.” I pride myself on being flexible and adaptive; I don’t have a set way of doing anything and will completely change hour to hour. So how would you define who I am really??

Hell no, people are different from minute to minute and from situation to situation. Think about yourself, do you act exactly the same when you are with your boss as you do when you are with your friends or partner, are you the same person in church as you are in a bar ? of course not its all situational.

In final analysis who amongst us really knows themselves well enough to say which is the truly authenic representation (no one?)
Goffman wrote a full book on it " The presentation of self in everyday life" i think they call it, bit of a dry read but some interesting observations.

No
People see me as lots of different things. Business like at work, play hard with certain friends, "The sensible one" with some friends, the nutter with others!

I guess I'm really an amalgamation of all of those. I'm most open and honest with my family, but then they don't know (and probably don't want to know!) the "play hard" version of me.
Besides its all relative, people tend to see you from where they are. I manage at work so therefore people think I'm responsible.
I'm young free and single so my married with children friends who are sitting at home with their kids whilst I'm out getting drunk, so they think I'm irresponsible!
You can't win!

Not entirely! I think we present the acceptable, social side of ourselves to the world in general. My quirks, flaws and kinks usually surface in the comfort of my home or with the people I am closest to.

Yes, I can confidently say I am. To a fault - I wear my heart on my sleeve, and often get burned. But, what you see is what you get with me....take it or leave it.
