I would suggest doing a little homework before making such a big move. If you have only just vacationed in LA for brief periods of time - you haven't experienced it like a potential native yet.
Visit the area again, and try to "feel" what it would be like to live there. Check with a realtor on neighborhoods for pricing and commute options, and to see what your budget will buy, and where. Online searching for real estate doesn't even begin to give you all the information you will need to relocate.
Make sure you drive on the freeway and around downtown, or wherever you are planning to get a job, or use the available public transportation, during various times of the day, to experience that aspect of your daily life, in advance.
Go to the grocery store, the drug store, gas stations, Kmart, ice cream parlors, hot dog stands, churches, wherever you would normally go, and check prices and merchandise, and the attitude of the people working there.
Talk to people you meet - at restaurants, book stores, real estate offices, job placement offices, parks and at the beach, and ask them what they like and don't like about the area - and to share their thoughts on places to look for a job, or a new home.
Since I'm a member of the YMCA, I would go to the local Y as a guest, to check it out, and to talk to the locals.
If you haven't done so already, go to Monster.com, or the local newspaper classifieds online, to get a feel for salaries and job availability.
Don't be afraid to relocate. It can be a wonderful experience, if you prepare for it a little in advance. If your gut tells you LA is the place, it may be, so bravo for having the courage to make a big change.
As an accountant, you can always find a job wherever you want to live. And there are nice people and new friends to be made just about everywhere.
But it's the lifestyle you need to taste to see if it suits you. You will know best what that means.

You should do it if it's something you really want to do and you have the financial resources. Los Angeles is an expensive city (especially compared to the midwest); so make sure you're prepared for that.
A degreed accountant (especially a CPA) with experience should have no trouble finding a job. I lived in Los Angeles all my life and spent the first 20 years of my career working in accounting there. I recently moved to Las Vegas because it's something I always wanted to do, and I had no trouble finding a job here.

LA sucks. Congested freeway traffic 24/7- 365. Rude people,
smog. Expensive to rent or own. Property is way overpriced.
Weather is good, A lot of asian and latinos. Takes forever to get from one place to another due to the traffic. You have to have a car to get around due to the multitude of suburbs and connnecting cities within the La area. Gas is expensive. Everything is expensive period. It would be a culture shock coming from Indiana. But if you can live with all that go for it.
Speaking as a Northern Californian all my life. I do not hit La,
unless I absolutley have to, which is not much.

A lot of people live in L.A, not just crazy people. Los Angeles is a big city, and highly publicized by the media, so it would appeal to people who like cities. And to people who couldn't find a space in New York, it's the second best.

L.A. is expensive! Be prepared for price shock on everything. (homes, rent, gas, food, etc..) Also the lifestyle is going to be different. L.A. is pretty fast paced. Well ... at least until you get in a car, then life moves to a slow crawl.

Why not? They can certainly use accountants in LA. I would think finding a new job an easy enough task.

NO.. LA sucks.
Overpriced, crowded, pompus arrogant people, ect ect..
Only thing its got going on is nice weather.
Try San Diego or Santa Barbara instead. Still over priced, but alot nicer.
