That's boiling Texas history down to only a couple of events, but in essence you are not far from the truth. Well, except for the part about them wanting to "take" Texas from Mexico. Anyway....
I cannot figure out why Mexico has always had so much trouble getting their act together. I mean, they were a major power player in this hemisphere only 175 years ago but now they are so overwhelmed by rampant corruption and criminal organization that it is no wonder people take the risk to come to America illegally.

yes politicians know we are being invaded by mexicans. The problem is that the politicians are looking for a way to capitalize on the situation. They are scoundrels and are working against the American ideal and philosophy. The people want it fixed. I say put it to a vote by and of the American people and I'll bet you we can solve the problem quickly.

Whether we know history or not it seems not to matter. We are doomed to repeat it.
We didn't 'take' Texas, we bought it. Mexico just had a problem with passing that info along to their citizens.

Personally, folks trying to desparately come here are probably better future citizens than those born here and who have a sense of entitlement and do nothing but complain...

Well - Jackson was farsighted enough to realize that the country would need some place to stick the majority of rabid republicans.
